Sarah Crofts, Marketing and Communications Assistant at Newtown Friends School, will speak about her spiritual journey to the adult class in the Gathering Room at the historic Newtown Quaker Meetinghouse, 219 Court Street on Sunday, January 10 at 9:45 a.m. The public is invited to attend.
Sarah will discuss growing up in Newtown Friends Meeting and how Quaker education and music have shaped her spiritual journey.
Sarah Crofts attended Buckingham Friends School and George School. She is a graduate of Haverford College, and earned a Masters degree in Education from Antioch University Seattle. Sarah is a member of Solebury Friends Meeting and a member of the Anna Crusis Women’s Chorus in Philadelphia.
After college, Sarah participated in the University Friends Meeting’s QuEST (Quaker Experiential Service and Training) internship program in Seattle. Sarah then worked atWissahickon Charter School in Philadelphia, The Pingry School in Basking Ridge, NJ and The Pennington School in Pennington, NJ prior to joining the staff of Newtown Friends School this year.
Newtown Friends School (NFS), founded in 1948 by Newtown Friends Meeting, is a pre-k through eighth grade coed day school of 223 students with a 8 to 1 student to faculty ratio. Fifty two per cent (52%) of its students qualify for the Johns Hopkins Center for Talented Youth. Its mission statement states, “Rooted in Quaker values, the rigorous education at NFS instills the confidence and conviction to succeed in a changing world.”
Among the secondary schools attended by recent NFS graduates are George School, Lawrenceville, The Hill School, Peddie, Exeter, Penn Charter, Solebury and Pennington.
Colleges attended by recent NFS graduates include Harvard, Yale, West Point, Bryn Mawr, Vassar, Colgate, Stamford, Cornell, Earlham, Bucknell, Haverford, Mount Holyoke, Oberlin, and Penn.
